About the Race

The TCS New York City Marathon course runs 26.2 miles through the five boroughs of NYC.


Over the past 50 years, the New York City Marathon has grown from a local road race held entirely in Central Park to the world’s largest marathon.


The 2023 TCS New York City Marathon had more than 51,000 runners from over 130 countries, led Hellen Obiri of Kenya finishing at 2:27:23 for the women’s pro-division and Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia who set a course-record time of 2:04:58 for the men’s pro-division. Champions for the women’s and men’s wheelchair division were Catherine Debrunner 1:39:22, who set a course record, and Marcel Hug (1:25:22).
