I am honored to be a part of the NYC Marathon for Team Jamsey. This will be my sixth NYC marathon, but the one I will probably look forward to the most given the work being done for this amazing charity. I was introduced to James Raffone from a colleague at CSI High School, (Staten Island, NY) where I’am an English teacher. When James spoke to me about the story and his son, it moved me tremendously to be a part of his cause. Being a father I can only imagine what he goes trough every day, and it is the least we can all do to give a little something of ourselves to help those in need. I wanted to be a part of his team. I had to be a part of this team. Not just to run, but to help make a difference in the lives of all the boys living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. At our big school fundraiser for JAR of Hope, I had the pleasure of meeting Jamesy for the first time and my need to help grew even stronger. I swore the marathon & Ironman days were on a major hold after Ironman Louisville last year, but this young boy, his father, and whole family are inspirations, and I am so grateful to be on this team, running to help! This young man is not only a beautiful child, but a model of courage and inspiration. Please help in any way you can!
