This November it will be my honor to run the NYC Marathon for team Jamesy. This will be my third marathon, however it will be the first marathon I run to support a charity. I met James Raffone at CSI High School, (Staten Island, NY) where I’am a science teacher. When James told all of us the story about his son, it just broke my heart. Being a mother of two beautiful children, it was at that moment I made the decision to help this man help his son. I looked up JAR of Hope that same night online and learned that they are one of the charities the NY Roadrunners supports in the NYC Marathon. At that point, it was a no brainer. I had to be a part of this team. Not just to run, but to help make a difference in the lives of all the boys living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Just three weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Jamesy. This young man is not only a beautiful child, but a model of courage and inspiration. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to help support JAR of Hope.
