Hi! My name is Joe Campo and I will be tackling the Grand to Grand Ultra this September for JAR of Hope as part of Team Jamesy. I was first introduced to JAR of Hope and Jim Raffone in the Spring of 2017 after he visited my sons’ elementary school in Marlboro. They came home and told me all about the man that visited their school to talk about an awful disease – Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – and how there is no cure, but that they all did pushups to raise money for research. As a member of the Marlboro Soccer Association, I reached out to Jim that summer and we paired up to bring JAR of Hope in as our sponsored charity for the MSA Kickoff Classic Tournament. From there, Jim asked if I would join the JAR of Hope Marathon Team to run the TCS New York City Marathon in November 2017. As a father of 3 healthy boys, I was honored when Jim asked me to join the G2G team earlier this year. This will be my first ultra-marathon and the idea of being prepared to run 170 miles through the Grand Canyon seems difficult, but it is nothing compared to the battle that Jamesy and other children suffering from Duchenne, and their families face every day. The least I can do is give it my best shot and help raise funds that will directly go to research in the hope of one day eliminating DMD. I’m just a local guy trying to help a local family fight a battle that is bigger than anything I can imagine. With your support we can find a cure for this terrible disease.
