For those of you who don’t know me I am a 42 year old immigrant from Youghal, County Cork Ireland and have been here since 1978 and I am a Local 1 plumber from Marine Park, Brooklyn, NY. I met the Raffone family through my in laws Anthony & Maria Maniscalco. My family has always been on board to help JAR of Hope. I realize every day how lucky I am. I stepped up to the starting line of the NYCM in 2016 and I ran my first marathon in honor of all the children suffering from DMD. Thinking about James Raffone and what he does on a daily basis for not only his son but all the children suffering from DMD I crossed the finish line with a sense of accomplishment. It is 2017 and I count my blessings every day and with that being said I am going to run the NYCM again!!!!! For the same reasons!!!! Because there is no cure!!!! For all the children suffering, for JAR of Hope and the hope to one day find a cure. I hope through the support of my family, friends & colleagues I can raise enough money to help continue the fight for a cure & awareness for JAR of HOPE and this devastating disease!!! THANK YOU

Hi colm! I know the Raffone family from living in the same town and our kids do sports and school together. We have so many fundraisers here for them. I’m proud of the work you are doing. Good luck!

Colm is one of the most genourous people I have ever met. The first one to drop everything and help others he doesn’t even know. Let alone family and friends. He’s personally been there for me more than I can repay and remember. I’ve also first hand have seen how special jamesey is and how he’s touched so many people’s lives already. We Wish we could do more to help colm and James Raffone beat this terrible disease. With people like this fighting it’s only a matter of time. Good luck guys.

We are forever thankful and grateful for what you did for us and our family. Since then you have become our family and one of our favorite ppl. What you are doing for Jamesy and all who are affected by this disease is nothing short of inspirational. We love you and are blessed to have you in our lives!! Colm,
I could say what a selfless act running the marathon is or what a wonderful person, husband, father, son, brother etc. you are. How you are always the first to lend a hand and how fortunate and blessed my family is to call you brother/son. But I’m not! Enough people have said beautiful things about you, your character and the man you are. My sister and the kids have to live with you plus Mom swells your big head enough all year long… What I am going to say is RUN FOREST RUN!! Good luck and I love you SOB!
