I am challenging myself, with my team, TEAM JAMESY 24/7, to the Mudderella course on Saturday, June 18, which is a 5-7 mile obstacle course, to help spread awareness and raise funds for my friend Paula Pucciarelli’s nephew, Jamesy. James has been directly affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy; a disease that hands one a brutal death sentence.

We desperately need your help in order to raise funds. Raising valuable funds is crucial when trying to save children from having their childhood ripped from them. When diagnosed with DMD, boys who started off crawling, then learned to walk and play, who have become little independent individuals, will no longer have that life. They will not have the opportunity to walk on stage to receive their diplomas, drive a car, not have the opportunity to dance at Senior Prom, or take a breath on their own. This is the very very SAD truth of this disease! Whether you have children now, or 20 years from now, this could be your fate for your family as well! Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy does not discriminate! It strikes at any moment and within a blink of an eye, the diagnosis is REAL!

Jamesy is one of the first children with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy to undergo HBOT treatment. Through this study, his marked improvements have led to the first ever hyperbaric pre-clinical trial to be hosted by the University of Minnesota. The launch of the HBOT research is a primary focus of our current fundraising efforts. The findings may provide the vital information needed to prove the clinical efficacy of oxygen therapy, and could lay the groundwork to make this treatment available to all children suffering from Duchenne. The goal of the HBOT study is to enable these children to walk for as long as possible, until a cure can be found.

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a mutation in the DNA that produces the protein dystrophin. The DNA of children with DMD have a deletion, duplication or an abrupt stop in the DNA-protein production process. Please help our team reach the goal !! With each dollar raised, it will give me the strength to complete this very difficult course! We are hoping to raise a combined total of 10% of the $340,000 needed for the HBOT Study !

Regardless of the amount, every donation makes a big difference to children living with with DMD. By supporting our goal you will help a potentially major breakthrough in the treatment of DMD which could lead to longer life expectancy and a better overall quality of life.
